My friend and I went to see Duran Duran on Halloween night at Madison Square Garden.
For an aging band that debuted their first album in 1981, it was amazing that it was a sold out performance and they totally rocked. The concert was called “Dance Macabre”, a French term meaning “Dance of Death.” It was quite a spectacle—like a spooky Tim Burton movie. The band and everyone accompanying them on stage were dressed up in costumes that were reminiscent of el Dia de los Muertos. But, what I remember most was Simon Le Bon’s incredible jacket made out of a mosaic of mirrors that reflected the stage lighting in such a beautiful way. I hope I’ve done it justice here because it was absolutely incredible.
