The goose and gosling are amidst an environment that is captivating, but full of hazards, like predators and pollution. With her neon underpainting, the goose communicates her anxiety as she realizes the reality of the world her child faces. The underpainting also suggests that, even in her protective embrace, they are still vulnerable to danger. The frenzied background colors and sparkling mixed media augment the beautiful, yet treacherous surroundings. 

This painting represents a mother filled with anxiety, wondering how much longer she can protect her children before she has to let them fly.
